Tahini

Tahini - The From Scratch Body

Having tahini paste in your cupboard will allow you to whip up a quick hummus or peanut sauce in no time - see how easy it is!

As easy as nut butter

Similar to making nut butter, you really only need one ingredient for tahini paste, and that is sesame seeds. And then you need a food processor and some patience!

Tahini

Makes 1 jar

Time: Toast: 1 min | Mixing: 5+ mins

  • 3 cups of raw sesame seeds (hulled or unhulled)

You also need

  • A food processor (blender can work if you don’t have a FP but it will be a bit harder!)

Instructions

Spread the sesame seeds out evenly in a large pan on the hob and toast the seeds gently for about 1 minute tops. They burn quickly so I’d rather stay on the safe side here!

Let them cool a bit and transfer them to your food processor. Just like if making nut butter, let the seeds run through the processor for long enough to get all the oil in the seeds to come out and blend it properly. It might take a bit of time, so be patient and believe! If you really feel like it’s not happening, you can assist them with a tiny drop of coconut oil or other cooking oil that doesn’t taste too strongly.

Store in a jar in your cupboard or the fridge!
