Tiny kitchen?
Pretend like you’re a food blogger.
If you are into food, and something tells me you are - you’ve probably seen some of those fancy one minute videos on YouTube and Instagram of food bloggers making a meal. They are often all done on one hob - or all in the oven! That is maybe mostly because 4 hobs with different ingredients boiling over at the same time is not so aesthetically pleasing, but this is something that you can use to your advantage. If you have limited space, there are so many dishes that can be made all in one pan, or by mixing cold and hot food (like my broccoli salad or potato salad with a hot main ingredient!), or my absolute favourite thing to do, which you will see a lot of on this site: everything in one dish in the oven. Less clean up, and also who doesn’t love food that just pretty much takes care of itself in there?
What can be good to get really skilled at with a tiny kitchen is cooking food that either all goes in one pan or dish, or where parts of it can be made easily while something else is cooking. Really explore salads, there are so many different ways you can go with them. And cooking everything in one pan makes you really maximise on flavour! If you don’t have an oven in your kitchen, only a microwave, it might be worth looking in to whether you can afford to upgrade to a combined microwave/oven (which is quite common now). But if you can’t - you can use your microwave in a smart way - you can make something on one hob that you can store in the fridge or freezer, that only needs a quick minute to heat up - like gorgeous homemade mashed potato, for instance. That goes with so many main dishes!
Honestly, just look up videos of what people cook on one hob. It does not have to hold you back from cooking nice things for yourself, as you will find. And it’s important to remember that you can cook one thing, put it to the side to rest and then bring it back in to the pan at the end with everything else (think of a lovely pasta dish for example!) without using more than one hob and one pan.
