What can you grow at home?
Don’t throw away the last bit of a spring onion.
Fill up half a glass of cold water and put it in - it will grow right back in no time. Honestly, you can almost watch it grow, it’s that quick! The same goes for leek (though you might need a bigger glass!).
I always regrow my spring (green) onions. I also have parsley and coriander (cilantro) and chives growing in pots in my window. I just ordered a bag of soil and divided it up between empty plant pots I had, and labeled them with the seeds I’d planted! Another great one to try: did you have a pot at school that you grew watercress in? Do you know why they did that? Because it was easy! Even a kid can get it right. Well, cress is super healthy (vitamin K, baby!), so take advantage of how easy it is to grow it, and bring that old school memory back.
Someone recently told me that spinach is another easy one to grow at home in a pot, so that’s what I’m trying next.
There are tons of things that you can grow in small pots at home. As long as you have windows that access a bit of sunlight, many things can be grown in small quantities. It might not be enough to cover your needs always, but it’s fun and can save you some pennies too. Plus, you know what you’re growing has not been touched by pesticides, dirt, delivery van floors or other people’s hands! Let me know if you try it!
