TikTok Wraps

TikTok Wraps and how to fill them

Have you seen the clever, handy wrap folding trick on TikTok (or maybe somewhere else on social media) that everyone is using? If not, I’ll run through it for you below - if you have, I’ll teach you some ideas for how you can fill them with some more interesting ingredients than what you’ve seen online!

First, let’s quickly go through the technique.

In case you haven’t seen these lovely little, toasted wrapped tortillas, check out my video here - that will be easier than reading about it I think; but to explain quickly what I am talking about: the technique that everyone is loving is to take a round shaped tortilla (if you are good at shaping them yourself then use my tortilla recipe, or buy some ready made, plain wheat or wholemeal, or corn tortillas are fine too!). You cut, using scissors is easiest, a line in to the centre of the tortilla, then fill it with whatever filling you desire, then pick up the flap made from the cut, fold one quarter of the tortilla over the next, the fold again and then again. You should have a nice, compact tortilla resembling the 1/4th of a pie chart. Squeeze down on the tortilla and make sure everything is going to stay in place inside it, and toast it gently in a pan (no oil needed, just toast it dry).

Now let’s go through 4 wrap recipe ideas!

Breakfast

  • One fried egg

  • A small piece of cheddar cheese

  • 3 cherry tomatoes

  • Salt, pepper and any seasoning of your choice (herbs like oregano are great)

Lunch

  • Some pieces of fried halloumi

  • A bit of feta cheese

  • A few pitted olives

  • Runny honey

  • Coriander (optional)

Dinner

  • Some pieces of shredded, cooked chicken

  • A small handful of spinach

  • 2 sun-dried tomatoes

  • Salt, pepper and any seasoning of your choice (an Italian herb mix or just oregano are great options)

Dessert

  • Half a sliced banana

  • 2 sliced strawberries

  • 1 tbsp of peanut butter

  • 1 square of dark chocolate

Instructions

Get all your ingredients ready. You can gently microwave the tortillas if you like (20/30 seconds) to make them slightly softer and easier to mould, but it’s up to you. Get a non-stick pan ready and warm it up to medium heat. Fill the top left, top right and bottom right sections of the tortilla with your fillings of choice. Fold the bottom left quarter over the top left, then fold over to the right and down. Squeeze and make sure all ingredients stay in, and then toast it gently on both sides in the pan for about 1 minute. Let it cool on the plate and eat with your hands! Enjoy!
